Warriors Vs. Clippers Free Picks | NBA Playoffs Betting Odds Game 6
I thought by this time in the calendar the Golden State Warriors would be worrying about the Houston Rockets and not the Los Angeles Clippers. What looked like a formality for the Warriors now could get to a dangerous territory if they don’t take care of Game 6 on Friday Night. The last time the Warriors lost two home games in a playoffs series, they ended up losing the NBA title to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. I’m sure they remember this very clearly. Golden State doesn’t look like they are about to be upset by the Clippers, but extending this series to six games was not in the plans of anybody.
Golden State Warriors Vs. Los Angeles Clippers Betting Preview
What the Clippers have over the Warriors is they play hard. Los Angeles has nothing to lose, so they are an uncomfortable opponent. If you are a Rocky 4 fan like I do, you must remember when Rocky finally found Ivan Drago bleeds in the second round.
The announcer screams “he’s cut, and it’s a bad cut.” I’m sure that is what the Clips are thinking right now. They feel they have cut the Warriors twice and now have to keep pressing until Golden State agonizes. I might be overstating the Clippers win on Wednesday Night, but this is the first in the recent Warriors’ championships run that they have looked vulnerable in the first round of the playoffs. With three games to go, it doesn’t feel like Golden State can turn on the autopilot and relax to a smooth ride. They will have to earn it. The Warriors remain as the favorite to win the NBA title at -160. Make no mistake about it, they are heavy favorites, but not as overwhelming favorites as they once were.
When the playoffs started Golden State could be found at -250 at MyBookie.ag. They still have an implied probability of 62% to win the title. But the surrounding sentiment is that number might be overblown, especially with the Houston Rockets waiting in the next round. The Clippers remain +15000 as the longest shot to win the NBA championship with less than 1% implied probability. Nobody is expecting them to all of a sudden go into a winning run resulting in the title. But stealing two games from the Warriors deserves some kind of recognition.
I can see Doc Rivers’ thumb stone saying: “Loving Father, NBA champs, stole two games from the Warriors.” The Warriors should win Game 6. I really can’t see them get dragged by the Clippers to an unnecessary Game 7. But let’s be clear, Los Angeles is going to give them hell. I don’t think this version of Golden State can put away teams whenever they want like they used to do it. Let’s grab the points.
What’s the play? Warriors will win but take the LA Clippers +9.5.
