Washington Redskins Vs. Minnesota Vikings NFL Week 8 Expert Betting Picks And Odds

The Minnesota Vikings are rolling lately. They shouldn’t have a lot of problems earning another W when hosting the irrelevant Washington Redskins, in the opening game of the NFL Week 8.

What The NFL Odds Say About The Redskins Vs. Vikings Matchup

The Vikings opened -16.5 right after recording a third straight win and 5th overall. The line has been moving between 16.5 and 16.

It hasn’t reached -17, and the lowest it has been was -15.5. The total opened at 41 points and now is at 42 at most betting sites.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ Edge Vs. The Cowboys?

Let’s not kid ourselves, there isn’t anything the Redskins do better than the Vikings, but we are getting +16 points from the MyBookie oddsmakers if we decide to go with the road team.

Before the season, Washington was expected to have an outstanding defense. Instead, the unit has allowed 25.1 points per game in the first two months.

Their defense is trying to get it done every weekend, but the effort has not been enough. They are ranked sixth in total yards allowed, but their offense has been dismal.

The Second-Worst Passing Offense In The NFL

The Redskins have turned the ball all over 12 times in seven games. They rank inside the top-10 worst teams in that department.

If Washington wants to have a shot in this game – their run game must be their catalyst. The Redskins have the second-worst passing offense in the NFL.

Interim head coach Bill Callahan said QB Case Keenum will remain the starter until the team goes into the bye week.

It doesn’t help either that RB Adrian Peterson is dealing with an ankle injury. AD said he’s confident about playing on Thursday night, but even with the veteran at 100%, the Redskins’ problems on offense are too many to fix in three days.

The Minnesota Vikings’ Edge Vs. Vikings

Less than a month ago, the Vikings were in trouble, especially on the offensive side. The Kirk Cousins’ contract looked like the worst contract in sports history.

Three weeks later, Cousins has thrown ten touchdowns in the last three games and just one interception. Minnesota is clicking on offense lately, averaging 36.0 points per game in the previous three wins against the NY Giants, Eagles, and Lions.

The Vikings’ only issue for this game is the health of WR Adam Thielen. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury, and although he’s pushing to play, time is against him.

Vikings Are The Third-best Rushing Offense In The NFL

The Vikings offense is more than just the recent form of Cousins or their unstoppable duo of wide receivers.  They have the third-best rushing offense in the NFL. Minnesota is averaging 160.0 rushing yards per game.

Tailback Dalvin Cook has been a stud since week one and leads the league with 725 rushing yards. Minnesota’s defense is solid, too, and should have a field day with Washington’s lousy offense.

The Vikings have the 5th best total defense in the NFL, and they have faced good quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Derek Carr, Carson Wentz, and Matt Stafford.

Washington Redskins Vs. Minnesota Vikings NFL Week 8 Prediction

Laying down 16 points in the NFL is not easy. A lot of things can go wrong, but Minnesota looks significantly better than the Redskins in all three phases. Beyond just talent, momentum is also on the Vikings’ side.

Washington is averaging just 12.9 points per game, which is the third-worst number in the NFL. During the weekend, they were shut down by the 49ers at home.

Adrian Peterson’s Health

The health of Adrian Peterson is a concern, but overall, the Redskins don’t have enough talent to compete. I’m taking Minnesota to win by three scores at home and cover the spread. This game should be over by the third quarter.

If you don’t like the Vikings in the spread, the UNDER is a good play as well. I can’t see Washington scoring more than one touchdown in this one.

If we take the Dolphins game out of the equation, the Redskins have scored ten points combined in the last three outings — Bet Vikings -16 and UNDER 42.
