What the odds say about Washington State vs. Houston
MyBookie.ag currently has the Washington State as a 9-point favorite, but the line didn’t open there.
When the betting line hit the board, the road team was a touchdown favorite. The odds even went as low as 6.5-points before it skyrocketed.
Betting Line Odds Continue To Climb
On Tuesday the betting line could still be found at 8 points, but now it is at 9-point across most sportsbooks.
It won’t surprise me if it hits 9.5 by the time of the kickoff. The game total started at 75 points but is now at 74.
What the Washington State Cougars bring to this game
It’s not a surprise Washington State has started with their foot on the gas pedal. Last season the Cougars were one of the most fun teams to watch in College Football. It seems the program picked up right where they left off.
The Team Has Had No Problems Covering The Spread
Washington State has scored 117 combined points in two outings against New Mexico State and Northern Colorado. The team has allowed 12.0 points per game in those two matchups and hasn’t found any problems covering the spread.
Fantastic Start To The Season For Senior QB
Senior QB Anthony Gordon has been balling in the first two weeks. In two games Gordon has thrown 884 yards, nine touchdowns, and just one interception. At this pace, he will post 5000 yards and 40+ by the end of the year.
Gordon is just another example that uncle Mike Leach can make anybody an unstoppable passer. In the last two seasons, he did with Gardner Minshew, and now Anthony Gordon is enjoying his time leading the spread offense.
What the Houston Cougars bring to this game
Houston opened the season with a 49-31 loss to Oklahoma. No one can blame the Cougars for that loss; in fact, many believe it was pure bad luck to schedule the Sooners right from the start.
During the game against Oklahoma, the team rushed for 241 yards and posted 408 yards total. The Cougars tried to make this a close game, but the Sooners are just too powerful.
Last week they recorded 238 rushing yards in the 37-17 win over the Prairie View Panthers. Once again, their ground attack was the go-to move.
QB Not Accurate With Two Turnovers Per Game
One thing that bothers me about Houston is their offense has averaged two turnovers per game in the first two weeks.
Senior QB D’Eriq King is not accurate enough to believe he can go toe-to-toe with Washington State’s dominant offense.
Their best chance remains by running the football.
Washington State vs. Houston NCAAF Week 3 Predictions
Let’s start with the game total. I don’t see this game getting to 60+ points.
Houston has become mostly a running team, and that eats a lot of the clock. To have a high scoring game near the 70s, we need two teams willing to exchange punches by scoring on quick drives.
Washington State’s defense is not bad either. It’s not their top unit, but I don’t expect them to allow 30+ points in this one.
Houston May Be The Home Team But…
Now about the spread. Even if Houston is the home team, Washington State couldn’t care less. Mike Leach has recruited good enough talent to go and dominate most teams in the country.
Perhaps not the top tier names, but they shouldn’t have a problem beating a midrange college program like Houston. Bet Washington State -9.
