The Chicago Bears were one of the biggest surprises in the 2018 season. They finished the season with a 12-4 record and would have made it even further into the postseason if not for a missed field goal in the divisional playoff against the Eagles. But there is a lot of positive momentum to build on coming into the 2019 NFL Season.

We’ll break down their offseason move and draft picks, and give you our regular season win totals betting prediction for the Chicago Bears.

Will The Bears Be Playoff Contenders This Year?

I do think the Bears have been a letdown after their big 2018 season. Their schedule is much harder, and the division has improved. I am not even sure they are a playoff team based on their difficult schedule.

Chicago Bears 2019 Roster Changes

The Bears had a very active offseason. They signed several players to contribute on both sides of the ball, including ex-Patriot, Corradelle Patterson. He will give them an elite weapon in the return game and a gadget player at wide receiver.

Jordan Howard was moved in the offseason, but Chicago has brought in ex-Seahawk, Mike Davis, to team with Tarik Cohen.

Filling In Defensive Gaps

Defensively, they added ex-Jet, Buster Skrine, at cornerback and signed safety, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. The ex-Packer and ex-Redskin will fill a need for the Bears in the secondary and doesn’t come with much of a salary cap hit.

Chicago Bears 2019 NFL Draft

It has been tougher to gauge the Bears 2019 Draft because they did not have picks in the first or second round. This is due to trades they made to get a pass rusher, Khalil Mack, last offseason. Their first overall pick was No. 73 overall. They chose a running back out of the University of Pittsburgh, David Montgomery.

Most analysts didn’t love the rest of their picks. They added a few more defensive backs and another running back.

The player that could have the most impact next season was Georgia WR Riley Ridley. Yes, he is the brother of Falcons’ wide receiver, Calvin Ridley.

Chicago Bears Schedule And Divisional Competition

It would be hard to argue that the Bears do not have a tough schedule. They face the best teams in the NFC, both the Saints and Bears, but they do get New Orleans at home.

Their out-of-conference schedule includes games against the AFC West. However, they won’t have to face San Diego or Kansas on the road.

I would say the Bears will have a more stringent test in the division this year. The Packers moved on from a mediocre head coach in McCarthy to Matt LaFleur. The Vikings nearly made the playoffs last season. The only fragile team in the division is the Lions.
