Cincinnati Masters Western & Southern Open Tennis Betting Odds Preview

Western & Southern Open Tennis Betting Odds and Preview

The biggest names in tennis will be together at the Western & Southern Open or as it is commonly known, the Cincinnati Masters, to play for one of the most exciting tournaments on the tour.

Players like Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Dominic Thiem have already confirmed their participation. On the women’s side Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep and Serena Williams have also written down their names.

The Western & Southern Open is a Masters 1000 tournament for the ATP World Tour but is also valued a WTA Premier 5 competition for the ladies. The men’s top spot earns 1000 points while the women’s earns 900. Below you can find our Cincinnati Masters betting odds and preview.

Men’s Betting Favorites to Win the Western & Southern Open

The Cincinnati Masters pretty much have the best players on the men’s side available for their 2019 edition. The only withdraw from last season is the Argentinean Juan Martin del Potro, who once again is dealing with a knee injury. Let’s look at the favorites to and their chances to win the Western & Southern Open:

Novak Djokovic +125

After winning Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic took a few weeks to rest after quite a battle in the final against Roger Federer. Nole had no rush in going back to the tennis court and even declined to participate in the Canadian Open to be ready for Cincinnati.

Djokovic is the current champion of the tournament after beating Roger Federer once again in 2018. The final was another chapter in the rivalry between these two, but again fell on the side of the Serbian.

Novak Djokovic is the best player in the world. There is no question about it. Plus, he’s an all-around player. He can win on every surface, but he enjoys playing on the hardcourt a lot.

Roger Federer +280

Roger Federer’s situation is like Djokovic’s, but he was on the wrong side of the Wimbledon final. The Swiss also took a few weeks to get his body ready after one heck of a match. Federer didn’t play in Canada either and will take Cincinnati as his last tournament before facing the US Open.

Federer enters the Western & Southern Open with two single titles this season and a 38-5 record overall in 2019. He has been playing fantastic tennis, and his form looks in top shape. Remember Federer had two match points against Djokovic in Wimbledon but couldn’t finish.

Dominic Thiem +2000

The Austrian Dominic Thiem also participated in the Rogers Cup Masters 1000 in Canada. The difference between him and the previews three names is he’s a lot younger. His body hasn’t received punishment enough to consider the fatigue a problem.

The challenge for Thiem is to be able to perform on hard court as well as he does during the clay season. Dominic is a fantastic player on a clay surface, but he’s just ok on hard court. If he wants to change that perception, winning the Cincinnati Masters will help a lot.

Stefanos Tsitsipas +2000

One of the wildcard players in the ATP tour is Stefanos Tsitsipas. He’s too good to be overlooked despite his youth. Tsitsipas confirmed his participation in both the Roger Cup and the Cincinnati Masters.

The Greek already won two single tournaments this season and is 37-16 in the year. Tsitsipas has good enough talent to beat anybody on the ATP tour any given day. He just needs to find a way to put an entire tournament together.

Women’s Betting Favorites to Win the Western & Southern Open

Unlike the men’s side, any tournament prediction is pretty much wide open. Sure, Serena Williams remains the biggest name in the sport, but for the past two years, she has been very vulnerable and beatable. That makes betting on women’s tennis quite fun, to be honest. These are the favorites to win the 2019 Western & Southern Open:

Simona Halep +750

The current Wimbledon champ, Simona Halep, wants to prove her win in the All England Lawn was far from a lucky strike.  Halep has grown so much over the past year and has become one of the best players on the WTA tour. But even with that statement, Halep hasn’t demonstrated to be consistent, and that’s her next task. She needs to reach a level where she can dominate any competition on any surface.

Halep lost the final in Cincinnati last season, so she probably has something to prove this year.

Ashleigh Bart +600

Last year, the Australian Ashleigh Barty reached the semifinal in the Cincinnati Masters before losing to Simona Halep. Barty has four WTA title wins on her career, but lately, she has taken a back seat to the success of Halep.

The Aussie needs to win the Western & Southern Open so she could be considered a real contender in the US Open. She’s still labeled as a clay player, and that’s never fun to hear.

Serena Williams +600

Any tournament where Serena Williams is on the list of players, she should be the favorite. Williams hasn’t won the Cincinnati Masters 1000 since 2015, but this is the perfect tournament for her to get back on top. Serena played very well in Wimbledon and was just outplayed by Simona Halep in the final.

Winning the Western & Southern Open will be the perfect timing to remember how to get back to glory, considering the US Open is one month away.
