2019 NBA All-Star Game – Betting Odds & Predictions | All-Star Weekend
The 2019 NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Feb 17 in Charlotte, but the entire weekend is full of sports betting options. Aside from the game itself, which is quite an event, there are a number of competitions which feature the league’s top players before Team LeBron and Team Giannis square off on Sunday evening.
Most infamous of which is the Dunk Contest. There are odds available for all of these events, plus the All-Star Game itself. We’ll break down each event below and let you know where to put your money down. The odds below will be provided by MyBookie.ag, where you can get a 50% Bonus up to $1,000 on your first deposit. However, always line shop for the best price.
Team Lebron -6 (-110) Vs. Team Giannis +6 (-110)
As of yet, the total has not been released by the oddsmakers. It’s always tough to analyze an All-Star game, simply because, it’s an exhibition and the players aren’t trying or playing any defense until the final few minutes of the game. With that said, LeBron’s team has a clear advantage when we compare the rosters.
The Western Conference is far better than the East and it shows. Still, it’s difficult to place a bet on the favorite in an All-Star game, no matter how much I try to rationalize it. I would suspect that the odds will move in favor of team Giannis as we get closer. It’s possible the public hits Team Lebron a bit more, but the sharps bet a lot more than them, so it’s unlikely that it goes that way.
What’s the play? Giannis +6.
NBA Taco Bell Skills Challenge
This competition is always quite the crapshoot. In terms of skills go, it’s hard not to like Fox in this one, along with Doncic, but we could just as easily see a surprise win from someone like Jokic or even Kuzma. I do think there is quite a bit of value with Mike Conley at +500. He’s not a sexy name anymore, but the dude can still ball at age 31. If you’re looking to bet the on-paper winner, look at Fox and Doncic.
Odds To Win The NBA Skills Challenge
- De’Aaron Fox +250
- Luka Doncic +350
- Trae Young +370
- Mike Conley +500
- Nikola Jokic +500
- Jayson Tatum +600
- Kyle Kuzma +700
- Nikola Vucevic +800
NBA Three-Point Contest
There are some fun names in this as Dirk Nowitzki will make an appearance in what will be his final NBA season. It’s tough not to like Steph Curry, but his odds were a bit better than when they opened as some books had him at +300. His brother is also in the contest, Seth Curry at +500.
We also a middle tier of Lillard, Harris, and Walker. With these contests, I prefer the upside as they are often far too hard to predict. I like the upside. Booker would be the best “chalk” play at +470 to win, but I like Danny Green at +1100. Dirk is another long shot at +1500, but he’s not a bad play for a 0.25 unit in his last All-Star competition.
Odds To Win The All-star Weekend Three-Point Contest
- Stephen Curry +130
- Buddy Hield +400
- Devin Booker +470
- Seth Curry +500
- Damien Lillard +800
- Joe Harris +850
- Kemba Walker +900
- Danny Green +1100
- Khris Middleton +1200
- Dirk Nowitzki +1500
NBA Slam Dunk Contest
The odds opened with John Collins as the favorite but that has quickly been corrected to Dennis Smith Jr. at +150. I don’t think John Collins has the skills to win this competition and was shocked that he was a favorite. Diallo is a bit of a Wild Card, but I think +400 isn’t enough to take a gamble on him.
Miles Bridges is my favorite play in this competition. He has a highlight reel of dunks so far this season. And, he will be competing in front of his hometown fans. At this price, it seems like a steal. I think the market may adjust before Saturday night, so get this one as soon as possible.
Odds To Win The NBA Slam Dunk Contest
- Dennis Smith Jr. +150
- John Collins +220
- Miles Bridges +250
- Hamidou Diallo +400
