2019 NFL Wildcard Round Betting Preview

2019 NFL Wildcard Round Expert Betting Preview

After 256 regular-season games, the NFL has found their 12 playoffs teams. The Chiefs, Ravens, 49ers, and Packers will have a bye week, but the rest will battle right from the start.

Let’s take a quick look at the early odds for the wildcard matchups.

Buffalo Bills (10-6) At Houston Texans (10-6)

Bills vs. Texans

The Texans opened as -2.5 for this game, but then the betting line climbed to -3 across all markets.

Both teams rested players on week 17, which means they will be ready to go next weekend. 57% of the betting public is taking the Bills to cover the spread.

This will be the first postseason game for QB Josh Allen, and just the second for QB Deshaun Watson. A year ago, Watson lost at home against Indianapolis.

Deshaun Watson In 2019

Watson threw 26 touchdowns against 12 interceptions in 2019 while Allen went 20 TDs vs. 9 INTs.

Buffalo has the fourth-best total defense in the NFL, only behind San Francisco, New England and Pittsburgh. Cornerback Tre’Davious White is one of the three players that recorded six interceptions this season.

Tennessee Titans (9-7) At New England Patriots (12-4)

+4.5 (-110) Spread -4.5 (-110)
O 43.5 (-110) Total U 43.5 (-110)

After losing the bye week in the last minute of the regular season, the New England Patriots are set to host the Titans. The Patriots have never reached the Super Bowl without a bye week.

The worst part is their offense looks weak, and their defense was destroyed by Miami last Sunday.

New England opened -5.5 at home, but now the betting line dropped to -4.5. So far, 60% of the public is going with the Titans on the road.

What About Ryan Tannehill?

Tennessee found new life since they introduced Ryan Tannehill to the starting lineup. AJ Brown should be up for the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Derrick Henry won the rushing title after posting 1540 yards in the season. Out of those, 211 yards came in week 17 against the Texans.

Patriots’ QB Tom Brady has more playoffs wins (30) than the rest of the 2019 playoffs QBs combined (26).

Minnesota Vikings (10-6) At New Orleans Saints (13-3)

Vikings vs. Saints
+315 Moneyline -380
+8 (-110) Spread -8 (-110)
O 47.5 (-110) Total U 47.5 (-110)
Bet On Vikings vs. Saints NFL Game At MyBookie.ag

It’s the rematch of the Minneapolis Miracle, but now to be played in New Orleans.

Minnesota rested their players in week 17, a luxury the Saints didn’t have. But New Orleans looked so sharp on offense, so I don’t think they are worried about the workload on their players.

New Orleans opened -7.5 and now that lined has climbed up to -8 and -8.5 in some places. It’s the most exciting matchup of the wildcard round, but also the one with the most significant spread.

The Quarterbacks Difference

The biggest difference between one team and the other is the quarterback. Drew Brees has thrown for 15 touchdowns and zero interceptions in the last four weeks.

Kirk Cousins has thrown five TDs and three interceptions in the same span.

Cousins has played two playoffs games in his career and lost both. He threw one touchdown without an interception as the QB of the Washington Redskins.

Seattle Seahawks (11-5) At Philadelphia Eagles (9-7)

Seahawks vs. Eagles
-130 Moneyline +110
-2 (-110) Spread +8 (-110)
O 46(-110) Total U 46 (-110)
Bet On Seahawks vs. Eagles NFL Game At MyBookie.ag

It started as a pick’em, but it quickly moved to Seattle -2. The Seahawks have been one of the best teams in the NFL on the road, posting a 7-1 record away from home.

The Eagles have been injured most of the season, and over the last few weeks, it’s has gotten to a ridiculous point. There is no word if TE Zach Ertz or RB Miles Sanders will be ready to face Seattle due to different injuries.

QB Carson Wentz has never played a playoffs game on his career, while Russell Wilson is 8-5, but 2-4 on the road.

70% of the bets are coming on the side of the Seattle Seahawks.
