All eyes in the football universe will gaze toward the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. At Sin City, the AFC Champion and NFC Champion of the 2023 NFL season will collide for the right-to-be Super Bowl champions.
As you delve into this article, you’ll explore the chances of claiming the MVP award in Super Bowl 58. We remain uncertain about the frontrunners, as the teams set to contest the game have yet to be determined.
Keep in mind quarterbacks have won the MVP in 32 of the 57 previous Super Bowls. However, since 2016, we have seen three none-quarterbacks win the award over the last seven years.
So, keep your options open, and let’s look at the MVP favorites for this year’s Super Bowl.
Best Sites To Bet On The Super Bowl 58 MVP
Below, you will find the MVP odds for the players who participated in Super Bowl 57. As we mentioned before, we currently don’t have odds for the MVP of Super Bowl 58.
However, you can explore how quarterbacks tend to be the favored candidates. Yet, also consider the odds for other prominent stars outside the quarterback position.
Previous Odds To Win The Super Bowl MVP Award
PLAYER | ![]() |
---|---|
QB Jalen Hurts | +115 |
QB Patrick Mahomes | +125 |
TE Travis Kelce | +1100 |
WR AJ Brown | +1100 |
DE Haason Reddick | +3300 |
DT Chris Jones | +4000 |
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts +115
Odds to Win The MVP: +115
The Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will make his debut in a Super Bowl when he faces the Chiefs. Hurts is not considered one of the top five best quarterbacks in the NFL, so why is he the favorite to win the MVP?
The answer is quite simple. The Eagles opened as Super Bowl favorites to beat the Chiefs, which means the expectation is for them to win the game. The odds suggest that the QB almost always wins this award, which puts Hurts in the driver’s seat to win the MVP.
Hurts is coming off the season of his career, posting 4,461 total yards in 2022, with 22 passing and 13 rushing touchdowns.
Jalen is only 24 years old, but he played National Championship games in the past. Sure, the Super Bowl is a different animal, but Hurts’ mentality is one of his major assets. He should perform well in the biggest game of his young career.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes +125
Odds to Win The MVP: +125
Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL, hands down. What he does on the field cannot be replicated by any other QB in the league.
He’s not the odds-on favorite because of what I explained above. The Chiefs are underdogs in this game.
Mahomes is about to become the 2022 regular season MVP after throwing over 5,000 passing yards and 41 touchdowns. However, the player who wins the league’s MVP award has failed to win the Super Bowl in the last 23 years.
Unlike Jalen Hurts, Mahomes has Super Bowl experience, having played two Super Bowls before. He’s 1-1 in those games, with two touchdown passes and four interceptions.
He hasn’t played a solid Super Bowl game in the two appearances he had before. However, because most people who vote do the lazy thing and vote for the QB, he should be your play if you consider the Chiefs will win this game.
Chiefs Tight end Travis Kelce +1100
Odds to Win The MVP: +1100
Travis Kelce is the most lethal weapon of the Chiefs’ offense.
He led all tight ends with 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns. His 11/1 odds to win the Super Bowl make him an exciting play, mainly because he has a great matchup against the Eagles defense.
However, the problem with Kelce is that his stats are mostly attached to Patrick Mahomes’ performance.
If Mahomes and Kelce have great games and the Chiefs win, the MVP will likely go to the QB.
The only situation in which Mahomes would lose the MVP with a huge Kelce performance is him throwing a bunch of interceptions. It’s an unlikely scenario.
Eagles WR AJ Brown +1100
Odds to Win The MVP: +1100
WR AJ Brown expects to have his best postseason game for the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Brown has been extremely quiet during the playoffs, primarily because the Eagles didn’t need him. The team was so dominant against the Giants and 49ers that Brown could save his best game for the Super Bowl.
AJ Brown, however, did have a monster regular season leading all Eagles receivers with 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns.
For him to win the MVP, the proposition should be similar to Kelce’s situation with Mahomes. Jalen Hurts must have an okay but not spectacular game for the wide receiver to win the award.
Brown is known for his yards after the catch. That could help his argument if the Eagles win the Super Bowl, and he’s a huge factor.
Eagles DE Haason Reddick +3300 / Chiefs DT Chris Jones +4000
I will use the last slot to talk about two long -but worthy- shots to win the MVP. I’m talking about the two most dominant defensive players on each team.
Let’s start with Haason Reddick. He’s an underrated defensive end who arrived at the Eagles this season to wreck every opposite offensive game plan.
Haason Reddick led Philadelphia with 16 sacks and has been one of the most impactful players in 2022. He’s 33/1 to win the MVP.
Then there is Chris Jones, one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the NFL.
He just recorded a career-high 15.5 sacks in 2022. Jones is 40/1 to win the MVP, and just like Reddick, he was a key piece in helping his team reach the Super Bowl.
In case you want a different bet than the usual selection of the quarterbacks, both defensive linemen are great options.
We have seen D-linemen win the MVP award, and the payouts for both players are much higher than what a wager on Mahomes or Hurts would give you back.
