Evander Kane and Timo Meier who missed time down the stretch will also be ready for the first round matchup against Vegas.

It’s a cliché, but if the Sharks stay healthy, they should be a pain in any series. For San Jose staying fit is the key, considering they haven’t been at full strength over the last month and a half. The Sharks have an implied probability of winning the Stanley Cup of 8%. It’s the second best after the Calgary Flames in the West.

The Capitals spent the first two months of the season drunk both literality and figuratively after winning the Stanley Cup last year. When they realized another had started, they were far behind the top positions in the Eastern Conference standings. Washington still is one of the most talented teams in the NHL, and we should not forget that. By winning the Stanley Cup last year, they got rid of many ghosts, and during these playoffs, they can play freely. There is no added pressure from the disappointments in past years. Washington and Pittsburgh are two teams that you need to respect to matter what the situation is. The Capitals with Alexander Ovechkin and the Penguins with Sidney Crosby should always be in the conversation to win the Stanley Cup. Their playmaking ability is such that teams that underestimate them would have a massive problem in their hands.
