William Hill Review Summary

Sports Betting Site William Hill logoWilliam Hill’s history in sports betting dates back to before World War II. The bookmaker was established in 1934 and is one of London’s original High Street bookies. The storied shop hasn’t missed a beat transition from the old school to the new, as they are one of the world’s largest and most profitable online bookmakers.

William Hill is the largest bookie in the UK and Ireland. They employ over 16,000 workers with offices in Leeds and Wood Green in the United Kingdom and other properties in Gibraltar and Ireland. They have over 2,300 land-based shops. They are licensed in Gibraltar but also hold a gambling license in the United Kingdom. They are also licensed in both Italy and Spain, and a host of other countries. William Hill is publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange under the symbol: WMH.

While they don’t accept American residents at WilliamHill.com, they are the first British bookmaker to receive a license to operate in Nevada, where they operate over 100 betting locations in the state. The company also serves as a risk manager for the State of Delaware’s sports lottery. In addition to sports betting, William Hill offers players an online casino, skill games, bingo, poker and financial wagering.

A Personal Opinion on William Hill

What We Don’t Like About William Hill

When it comes to sportsbooks like William Hill, it’s tough to find too many disadvantages. They’re debatably a top ten sportsbook worldwide, so there’s not a ton of true negatives that should dissuade punters from depositing. The one issue that they have which is also common with similar predominately British bookmakers is that their markets are heavily focused on the UK, and to a lesser extent Irish betting markets. Other markets have far fewer betting markets or are not available at all.

If you’re interested in betting a lot of Eastern European football or international leagues of any sport across the world, William Hill probably won’t be your first choice. Paddy Power, one of their rivals, has a much larger selection of markets that are outside of the British and Irish betting sphere.

William Hill Review Highlights

Interface and Odds

William Hill offers a top of the line betting PlayTech software. All of their available sports are listed on the top of the page, with the betting markets making up the body. Placing bets of any type is simple, and the software is faster than most other sportsbooks.

William Hill Website Betting Interface

As far as markets available, English language bettors will find just about every sport available when it comes to Western Europe and North American markets. These will have the most extensive bet offerings, along with live betting options.

Speaking of in-play betting, William Hill’s software may be the best online. For most Western European sports, live betting options are extensive. This changes a bit with smaller markets, but William Hill’s in-playing betting coupled with their large list of streaming options is a punter’s dream come true. As overall odds, they’re competitive almost across the board. Their profit margins in basketball and football are the best. Some smaller markets may not be the best, but when it comes to major markets, Will Hill a spot to look for the best odds available.

Large Wagering Limits

Maximum bets will vary depending on the market, but for just about every major football league, including the English Premier League, Spanish Primera, etc. the maximum winnings are £500,000. Things drop drastically regarding smaller market sports, or proposition wagers that aren’t a part of typical match betting. These can be as low as £50k-£100k, depending on the sport and betting market. One issue we have seen mentioned in the online forums is that William Hill is quick to limit players who show signs of being sharp. It’s tough to say how frequent this, (this data isn’t readily available) but it does appear to be happening more frequently the past few years.

Multi-Language Support

William Hill provides 24/7, 365 days a year. They can be contacted by live chat, phone, or email. They also offer support in many different languages, which is also available 24 hours a day. There have been some complaints about support, but that may be partly due to the William Hill’s extensive “know your customer” protocol. They ask for several forms of verification before withdrawals can be processed, which can delay payouts. However, this is standard procedure at online gambling sites worldwide and isn’t anything unusual for those who bet online.

Fast Payouts, Lots of Currencies Accepted

William Hill’s cashier and processing speeds are one of their best attributes. They process withdrawals faster than most bookmakers online. Many customers report e-wallet payouts to Neteller and Skrill as quickly as a few hours after requesting. They accept a variety of currencies, aside from Pounds and Euros. Currently, players can deposit with Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollars, United States Dollars, Danish Krone, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Singapore Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, and Swiss Franc. There are no fees for deposits and withdrawals, regardless of your method. Visa, MasterCard, Neteller, and Skrill are their most popular methods. Payouts back to credit and debit cards may take several business days. Withdrawals to e-wallets are processed in 24 hours or less.

Overall – William Hill Sportsbook Review

Will Hill is still doing it better than pretty much everyone else. If you’re based in the United Kingdom and Ireland or have an interested in Western European markets, there is no better option than William Hill’s in-play betting experience. Their pricing is also borderline elite and there are fewer better options for punters.
